Integrated Curriculum

In your classes here at The Martial Arts Center Atlanta, you will learn the Japanese Style of Shintoyoshin-Kai Jujitsu / Jiu-Jitsu in tandem with our style of Okinawan Karate This provides versatility in training and a greater understanding of how to defend oneself.

In your Jujitsu practice you will learn the foundational concepts / principles that have to do with balance, leverage, and sensitivity with respect to your education in how to fall safely, throw effectively and strike accurately. You will learn basic self-defense both stand up and on the ground. By the way, we love to grapple and emphasize the teachings of groundwork in our Jujitsu / Jiu-Jitsu classes while focusing on getting back to your feet for safety reasons.

A typical Jujitsu / Jiu-Jitsu class here at The Martial Arts Center Atlanta starts with a yoga based stretch followed by a warm up routine consisting of calisthenic and plyometric exercises. From there, each class is a little different as we might emphasize falling & throwing in one class, striking & joint locking in another or we might rendori (wrestle) for a good part of class. You will receive through instruction in your self-defense curriculum, as well as how to navigate the ground in order for you to get back to your feet.
